I thought I would journal the building process of our home. These pictures are from day 1 to day 120! If you didn't figure that out, that is 4 months exactly. Our home went up so fast compared to other homes in the neighborhood, and that is because our builder only does about 10 houses a year, where other builders do from 60-100 a year! So he was able to go quickly and efficiently. We were so surprised to be in by Christmas! It was such a blessing and we feel so blessed to have been able to build our dream home.
Ryan and I have talked about building for a long time. We needed to make sure we could save enough and get what we needed out of our house to be able to build. We decided to put our house up for sale in August of 2014. We found an acre lot that we really liked in a subdivision that was still in our ward boundaries. We did test holes to see if we could do a basement and only ran into a little bit of rock in one corner. So we bought the acre lot in Oct of 2014. We sold our house in February of 2015 and moved into a 4 bedroom rental home. In the meantime, we got our plans all ready and talked to different builders about price and our floor layout.
We broke ground on August 20th. The day before Avery's 8th birthday. Our house was completed on December 21st.
Here is our lot:
