Flattered and Splattered

My calling in the ward is Beehive Advisor. That means I get to work with all the girls ages 12 and 13 in the ward. I love it! I teach almost every Sunday and I get to go to Wednesday night activities. This past Wednesday was a combined Young Men/Young Women activity and we went river rafting down the Snake River. It was a blast! It always is, with the youth. They are just fun and full of energy!

Many of the youth and leaders were arriving and gathering together in front of the church building before loading up in the cars and heading to the river. Now, I don't know all the young men's faces, names and ages yet, as this is the second time we have combined with them since I have had this calling.  However, this boy in our ward I know, is 16. And he invited a friend to come along, so I had never seen him before.  I wanted to record this conversation I overheard these two boys having, as it was hilarious and very flattering.

His friend: Dude, who is that cute girl over there? Is she new in your ward?

Boy in our ward: Who?

His friend: The one standing right there. (Him gesturing toward me...I started looking around me discreetly to see who they were talking about).

Boy in our ward: Dude! That's one of the leaders! (laughing)

His friend: No way! She's a leader!?

Boy in our ward: Yeah! (laughing) I know, crazy huh?

It hit me right when he said, leader, that they were talking about me! ME?! hahahaha! I was trying not to look at them, as I didn't want them to know I had over heard them talking about me, and embarrass them,  but I was seriously flattered. Not only because he thought I was one of the youth-!, but that I was cute! It made me smile the rest of the night! I came home afterwards and told Ryan all about it. We both just laughed and then Ryan got all serious and said, "Oh, man. Someone's gonna steal you from me. I better do the dishes, so you know I love you!"

Ryan then proceeded to do the dishes. :) Thanks babe. And thanks, 16 year old boys!

Here are a few pictures of the night. I didn't however get any pictures actually rafting...as there never seemed a chance to pull out the camera. We got soaked. Each raft besides ours, had squirt guns so everyone ganged up on us and squirted us...over and over again. We were the only ones not laughing. I have never been splattered with that much water ever, as I had been that night. I looked like a drowned scary rat when we got done. I am sure the boys weren't thinking I was cute then! :)

Love these Beehives!
